2. Workplace Communication

Lesson Plan – Resource ID No: EMP2

This resource looks at the development of communicating effectively in the workplace and developing the understanding of verbal and non‐verbal messages, Effective questioning & Active listening, and responding to constructive feedback, all skills required when working in a team or workplace.

This learning resource has seven parts that can be completed individually or grouped together depending on the target group or time allocated for the lesson.

Resources required:

Activity One – Videos and group Discussion – access to internet and projection of Videos for class, to record information you will need either butcher’s paper white board or a Smartboard.

Activity Two – Brainstorming activity– access to butchers paper or a Smartboard.

Activity Three ‐ Role‐play exercise, you will need to print off appendix 1 with instruction.

Activity Four – Game and group exercise.

Activity Five ‐ Group discussing/ brainstorm. Print off appendix 2 or bring up on Smartboard.

Activity Six ‐ Role‐play. Print off appendix 3, 1 set of cards per‐pair.

Activity Seven – Understanding of knowledge ‐ Pairs and individual exercises, you will need to print off appendix 4 and 5, appendix five is a reflective exercise to go into students portfolio.
