2. What is Active Citizenship?

This resource looks at the importance of understanding what it is to be an active citizen.

This learning resource has three parts that can be completed individually or grouped together depending on the target group or time allocated for the lesson.

Resources required:

Activity One – Video & Group Discussion, access to Internet for video and butchers paper or a Smartboard.

Activity Two ‐ Brainstorm & small group exercise, butchers paper or a Smartboard.

Note to teachers: Activity three may need to be completed over 2‐3 sessions: 1‐ for developing an idea, 2‐ to collect images etc and 3‐ to pull together the poster.

Activity Three – Small group exercise. Develop a poster (using appendix 1 as a example). You could use images from magazines, images taken by students etc. Note: this exercise could be aligned with the ‘Use digital devices’ activity see resource EDU3A & EDU3B ‐ Develop Digital Document Template.
