5. Features of Good Leadership

Lesson Plan – Resource ID No: LED9

This resource looks at good leadership. What makes a good leader, their strengths and leadership styles? Also we reflect on personal leadership.

This learning resource has eight parts that can be completed individually or grouped together depending on the target group or time allocated for the lesson.

Resources required:

(Activity One & Two should be done together as they build on each other)

Activity One – Video and Discussion – access to Internet for video and butchers paper or a Smartboard.

Activity Two ‐ Discussion – butchers paper or a Smartboard.

Activity Three ‐ Discussion and Brainstorm, you will need to print off appendix 1.

Activity Four – Discussion and Brainstorm, you will need to print off appendix 2 and butchers paper, white board to write down Learning Opportunities.

Activity Five ‐ Video, discussion and role ‐ play exercise, access to Internet for video and butchers paper.

Activity Six – Exercise, print off appendix 3 for each student.

Activity Seven ‐ Research exercise, print off appendix 4 for each student.
Note: this will need access to computers and a lesson dedicated to the exercise.

Activity Eight ‐Understanding of knowledge ‐ Pairs or individual exercise, you will need to print off appendix 5.

Learning Opportunities

The students will be expected to reflect on their own leadership: in terms of their attributes, leadership style and strengths.
