In this resource students will reflect on effective communication and the part they are playing in contributing to clearly communicating a message. Informal and formal ways of communication and their appropriate settings are discussed.

This learning resource has seven parts that can be completed individually or grouped together depending on the target group or time allocated for the lesson.

Resources required:

Activity One – Watch video and group discussion – you will need access to a projector and the Internet.

Activity Two – Group discussion – print off flash cards and optional butchers paper for recording feedback.

Activity Three – Group exercise, you will need to print off and cut cards from appendix 6 for each group.

Activity Four ‐ Video and group discussion ‐ you will need access to a projector and the Internet. Also print of flash cards appendix 2.

Activity Five ‐ Group discussion and Game activity – you will need a white board / butchers paper, print off flash cards appendix 3 and the teacher will need to print off the instructions for the game.
